What is GNO-ARMA?
The Greater New Orleans Chapter of ARMA is a chapter of ARMA International which serves the Greater New Orleans area. Our Chapter has been serving the records and information management community since 1964. Throughout our storied history, the Greater New Orleans Chapter has been instrumental is providing education, support and networking opportunities to professionals in the region. As our industry changes, our Chapter is dedicated to facilitating the professional growth of our membership and the continued support of the ARMA International mission.

50+ Years of Service
The Greater New Orleans Chapter of ARMA International is celebrating 50-plus years of leadership in the New Orleans Area!
In the 2012- 2013 chapter year, which coincided with its fiftieth year in operation, GNO-ARMA had the distinction of earning the only GOLD level Chapter Merit Award in the association, meeting several criteria towards ARMA International's overall mission.

GNO-ARMA has regular educational meetings on a monthly basis, except during the summer and around the holidays.

A backlog of DNA tests has kept New Orleans from solving multitudes of crimes and encourages more crime because of the lack of prosecution. Emerging on the scene in the past few months, Quick DNA technology is in the pilot stages in the New Orleans and Baton Rouge areas in Louisiana as a way to fight crime in a more effective way. With the new technology, people already arrested can be identified for other crimes they have committed and held instead of released to commit more crimes. It allows the authorities to “connect the dots” while not taking the risk of arresting innocent people. Join us in this “fireside chat” as experts reveal what the technology means to our areas.

Julia S. Vercher
MARCH 6, 1939 – NOVEMBER 18, 2022
Julia Ann Vercher passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. Julia was born in Campti, Louisiana March 6, 1939. She graduated in 1957 from Montgomery High School. She met Bernell Vercher at Montgomery High School and they were married in 1957.
She is preceded in death by her father, the late Albert Jackson Smith, and her mother, Mary Julia Smith, and her siblings, Jackson “Jackie” Henry Smith, Charles Richard Smith, and, Marjorie Virginia Looney. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years F. Bernell Vercher, her children, William Vercher, and, Rebecca Beadle (Danny), sister, Linda Sue Fredieu (Robert), granddaughters, Kathryn Vercher, Heather Bourg (Joey), Kimberly McDonald, and great-granddaughter, Alexis Frost. She adored her many nieces and nephews and had a special relationship with one of her great-nieces, Laila Fredieu. She also had a special relationship with Jody Ethridge who was like a daughter to her.
Julia managed the Records Department at Stone Pigman Law Firm and was a part of the firm for 35 years. Julia was instrumental in moving the firm from its 3 x 5 index card system to its first records software program. Julia loved her years at the firm and had a blast with her friends and co-workers. She retired in July 2020.
She loved life and was quick-witted, clever, loving, and quite the prankster. In addition to caring for her family, Julia took care of many others during her life with her time, resources, and prayers.
Julia will be missed for her encouraging words as a mentor, fellow employee and long-time GNO-ARMA member.
